THE KID INSIDE  (Gebell)

Well I used to be a cowboy but that’s such a lonely road

The darkness would surround me, I’d fear I’m growing cold

I might not get to heaven but for you I’m gonna try

I’m in heaven when you smile, girl, get that sparkle in your eyes

Come on, pretty baby. I might be what you need.

I’m grown up, but there’s still / a kid inside of me.

Well let’s run off to Vegas and win enough to make it back,

We’ll get a house up on a hillside and matching Cadillacs

I know that I’m a dreamer.  It’s a blessing and a curse

My glass is always half-full, and so many have it worse

Come on, pretty baby.  I might be what you need

We’re grown up, but there’s still / a kid inside of me.

Roll on, roll on – like a river, deep and wide

Roll on, roll on – through the years, side-by-side

In times that we’re together and times that we’re apart

There’s things I never said, girl but you’re always in my heart

For all the hidden treasure in these moments that we share

Girl, if I get to heaven I know I’ll find you there

Come on, pretty baby I’m everything you need

We’re grown up, but there’s still a kid inside of me.

THROW ME OUT THE DOOR   (Gebell)

I’ve loved it loud ever since I was a kid

I’d play that rock and roll, but my parents never did.  They told me

Turn it down, got an aching in my head

I saw their lips were moving, but I don’t know what they said.  I made it

Louder!  Yeah, that’s what I need

You know I love it loud, and that is how it’s gonna be

Make it louder!  Just a little more

But they don’t like it loud and so they threw me out the door

So long!  It’s so wrong, it’s oh so wrong, but that’s all right

This little rocker boy, grew to be a rockin’ man, but my

Lovely country girl, she didn’t seem to understand, I told her

More and more and more is what I crave

So turn it to 11 and let’s go misbehave, make it

Louder!  Yeah, that’s what I need

You know I love it loud, and that is how it’s gonna be

Make it louder!  Just a little more

But she don’t like it loud and so she threw me out the door

So long!  It’s so wrong, it’s oh so wrong, but that’s all right

Got a new guitar and I learned a buncha licks

But I gotta make a living so I play it just for kicks, and I can

Play it fast, sometimes I play it slow, and I

Get to play it loud at every single show, make it

Louder!  Yeah, that’s what I need

You know I love it loud, and that is how it’s gonna be

Make it louder!  Just a little more

If you don’t like it loud, then you can throw me out the door

Throw me out the door, throw me out the door, throw me out the door

If you don’t like it loud then you can throw me out the door

If you don’t like it loud then you can throw me out the door

NOT AGAIN  (Gebell)

 I didn’t need it.  I guaranteed it

I finally saw the light

I rolled and tumbled, I screamed and mumbled

Just started sleepin’ through the night

Said I was leavin’, she kept believin’

That we could still be friends

I hit the wall when she kept on callin’

Gotta put it to an end

Oh… no!  Not again.

Oh… no, no, no.  Not again!

Thought new addresses would fix these messes

I got my number changed

Feel like I’m hiding, but I’m confiding

A little love remains

And I said Oh… no!  Not again.

Oh… no, no, no.  Not again!

I’m wiser than you think, girl

So I changed my simple plan

Your heart might break, but that’s a chance I’ll take

Gonna get it while I can

Yes I’ll admit it, done gone and did it

And now she’s lost her mind, (And I)

Run for the border, restraining order

She’s never far behind

She said Oh… no!  Not again.

Oh… no, no, no.  Not again!

ONE AND DONE  (Gebell)

She was the Upper East Side, the Village and the best part of Brooklyn

She was Maryann, Elaine and all the girls from "Friends"

And there are some who'd say she was worth every complication

And there are those who say they knew how the story would end

She had Cadillac taste, the body of a Testarossa

Always got her way, her samples never came for free

And while I took my best shot, my prize was just a consolation

I got a treasure chest full of bittersweet memories

One and done

Ah, baby, one and done

Took one last look and then closed the book

One and done

I tried to change her mind but lost to the competition

I tried to change her mind, but I settled for just wanting her bad

And as I turn the page, she keeps her perfect reputation

She will always be the best that I never had

Good night my love, sleep tight my love

One and done

Ah, baby, one and done

Took one last look and then closed the book

One and done

Ah, baby, one and done

ALL OF MY HEROES  (Gebell)

A local hero became a writer

He wrote a column called The Industry Insider, he said

It might be lonely up at the top

But then  you’re fallin’, and there’s just no way to stop

And all of my heroes are gone, all of my heroes are gone

All of my heroes are gone, all of my heroes are long gone, but I live on

He risked it all on instant fame

And tells the stories how he pissed it all away, and he said

Just find you one that you can trust

To be there with you when the going gets rough

Cuz all of my heroes are gone, all of my heroes are gone

All of my heroes are gone, all of my heroes are long gone, but I live

Things don’t work out like you predicted, do they?

One word gets out and you’re black-listed, buddy

And as it all slips through your hands

You’re a changed and broken man

And I’ve seen this time after time, you never know when it’s the end, my friend

And all of my heroes are gone, all of my heroes are gone

All of my heroes, are gone, all of my heroes are long gone, but I live on

THE SUMMER HEAT  (Gebell)

When the sun goes down, it’s like a different town

The place they call ‘The Buckle of the Belt’

And while the Gospel’s shining bright, there is magic in the night

When you finally see the light, can you save yourself?

In Tennessee I found a place to go

Where the blues combines with delta soul

There is a taste of sweet ol’ rock and roll

In the summer heat

There was a man in black, had stripes upon his back

And he sang out for the ones who didn’t have

We said The King is gone, but we couldn’t be more wrong

The Sun will never set on Union Ave

In Tennessee I found a place to go

Where the blues combines with delta soul

There is a taste of sweet ol’ rock and roll

In the summer heat

And as you look to the past

You’ll find your freedom at last

Once more, its spell has been cast my friend, my friend

When the sun goes down, it’s like a different town

The place they call ‘The Buckle of the Belt’

While the Gospel’s shining bright, there is magic in the night

If you finally see the light, will you save yourself?

In Tennessee I found a place to go

Where the blues combines with delta soul

There is a taste of sweet ol’ rock and roll

In the summer heat

In the summer heat

In the summer heat

TAKE ME BACK (Gebell)

Another tin can in the sky, another home away from home

There’s a sweetness in our long goodbyes that stays with me as I roam

Two o’clock in the morning, watching shadows on the wall

It’s a time I need you by my side but it’s much too late to call

And as the years go by I find that life is more than what you’re paid

Climb a mountain, then you realize precious time has slipped away

So I say…

Take me back, take me back to my baby

Take me back, take me back right now

Take me back, take me back to my baby

Take me back, take me back somehow

Gonna sign my resignation and put my thoughts down in a song

Let the world know how I need you now.  God, I hope they sing along

And you know how hard I’ve tried, but I can’t take this time away

As the morning sun begins to shine, I’m comin’ home to stay

And I say…

Take me back, take me back to my baby

Take me back, take me back right now

Take me back, take me back to my baby

Take me back, take me back somehow

Take me back, take me back to my baby

Take me back, take me back right now, I say…

Take me back, take me back to that sweet, sweet thing

Take me back, take me back somehow

Take me back, take me back right now

Take me back, take me back somehow

EULOGY (THE MUSIC DIED TODAY)  (Gebell)

Somehow it came to this

The troubadours blow a final kiss upon a landmark of this town

But what a fitting end

We look for answers blowing in the wind.  Well, now the wind just knocked it down

And what we need is a heartfelt eulogy, Cuz megabytes are what is left tonight of a whole damn industry

The lost cause, there's nothing left to save

The love songs and done-me-wrongs are buried in this grave

No matter if you buy, steal or give away

It feels like the music died today

We used to walk those aisles

To find a band with a brand-new style, became the soundtrack of our lives

I’ve come to disavow

A generation that needs it now.  The world is stuck in overdrive

The time is right for a heartfelt prophecy: you file share, you’d best beware that nothing comes for free

The lost cause, there's nothing left to save

The love songs and done-me-wrongs are buried in this grave

No matter if you buy, steal or give away

It feels like the music died today

YOU CAN DANCE  (Gebell)

The morning starts with the blues, this road has been too long and hard

There ain’t a thing you can do but grit your teeth and play the part

But shake it off, baby, or people, they will make you crazy

We slip and we slide, but your moves are like a work of art

You can dance around your issues at hand

You can dance out in the rain with your man

Or dance in the dark so no one else can see

And if you stay in time, dancing’s all you’ll ever need

No matter how hard we try, the sands of time will dull the chrome

But you’re the same girl inside, the same girl I have always known

This mean old world we live in, makes you play the cards that you’ve been given

You hold or you fold, but you’ve never walked away alone

You can dance around your issues at hand

You can dance out in the rain with your man

Or dance in the dark so no one else can see

And if you stay in time, dancing’s all you’ll ever need

NOBODY I KNOW  (Gebell)

Little Julie looks for the ugly side of life

When she sees you down, she’s the first to twist the knife

But she never realized that there would be a day where she became the prey

And there’s nowhere left to hide

I was there and saw her fall from grace

The lost expression on that pretty face

She looked like nobody I know

She looked like nobody I know

Joey learned to walk tracing footsteps in the sand

Only played the game because it pleases his old man

The dream wasn’t realized.  In Joey’s living hell, he crawled into his shell

With the pieces of his pride

He tells the tales at the local bar

Then sleeps it off in a buddy’s car

He looks like nobody I know

He looks like nobody I know, I know

The life and times of the local kids

We’re all survived by the things that we did

You look like nobody I know

You look like nobody I know, I know, I know

HERE’S TO YOU  (Gebell)

Here is a song for my family, a song for my friends

A song for all the people who got me to where I am

From the banks of the Mississippi, to my old neighborhood

You fed my inspiration, you somehow understood

Here’s to you, here’s to you, here’s to you

For the stars that we chased, when we knew they were out of reach

For the things I never learned, for the times you tried to teach

This is a song for the anchors, and those who let me drift

The lessons that it brought me, they are your greatest gift

Here’s to you, here’s to you, here’s to you

And it isn’t now the way it’s always been

Guess sometimes we’re reminded, better say it while you can

So here’s a song for the ones I’m proud to call my friends

I’ve always got your back; I’ll be there til the end

Here’s to you, here’s to you, here’s to you

And it isn’t now the way it’s always been

Guess sometimes we’re reminded, you better say it while you can

And this song, it might be something you never thought you’d hear

But I hope you’ll raise your glass, ‘cause every word of it’s sincere

Here’s to you, here’s to you, here’s to you

GOT LATE EARLY  (Gebell)

I took a walk to clear my mind.

But found some things I’d left behind

That rebel boy. How could it be?

Am I the man I once hated?  Swore he’d never be me

It got late early, baby.  It got late and that’s a fact

It got late early, baby.  But it ain’t too late to clean up my act

I took a look at the world around.

Saw the ones who scream but can’t make a sound.

And in the name of sweet revenge,

We sold the things we swore we’d die to defend

It got late early, baby.  It got late and that’s a fact

It got late early, baby.  But it ain’t too late to clean up our act

Justify anything you want, put a spin on all you do

You might think you’re above it all

But the one who’s in the mirror keeps looking back, keeps looking back at you

It got late early, baby.  It got late and that’s a fact

It got late early, baby.  But it ain’t too late to clean up our act
